On disappearing trash cans

My office has been ransacked for the trash can twice in the last month, and I found both of them in the classroom across the hall, putting 3 in that room and none in my office. I am looking for ways to ‘protect’ my trash can so I can maintain a clean, sanitary and un-trashy office….thoughts?

  1. Phil Says:

Drill 4 holes in the bottom of your trash can. Drill matching holes in a cinderblock. Attach trashcan to cinderblock with some very large washers to try and keep the cinderblock from cracking.

Heavy-duty construction adhesive might work, too, as would chaining the trashcan to the cinderblock or your desk

This will work, in principle, because thieves are too lazy to do honest work to get what they want and cinderblocks (and desks) are heavy.

I’ve gotten similar suggestions from my facebook feed, the best were Aircraft Carrier anchor chains and a leopard from craigslist
